Singer Yahzarah, rose to fame when she became a back-up singer for Erkyah Badu in 2000. In 2001, the singer released her first album Hear Me, and her sophomore album Blackstar in 2002.

Cry Over You comes from her third album, The Ballad of Purple St. James which was released May 2010. The album is currently #75 on the R&B Billboard charts.
