On Monday, September 28th, Porsha & Mercedes releases their new single and music video “The Dealership”, which is off of their upcoming EP also entitled “The Dealership”.
The concept behind the song and music video is Porsha & Mercedes has a dealership full of all types of men where women can browse and purchase for their own personal pleasure.
Definition of The Dealership (noun):
A place where one can go to inspect, test drive and purchase the man of their choice.
After watching the music video “The Dealership”, you are probably thinking of many things, whether it is negative or positive. Good, now that you are thinking, what are your thoughts on women objectifying men? Ideally, it is okay for women to be objectified by men in music videos, in movies, and in life but can the roles be in reverse? Porsha & Mercedes wants you all to start thinking and talking about a serious issue that women have been dealing with for many years such as misogyny in Hip-Hop and women going through drastic procedures to become more appealing to men.
“In the 21st century, why do men still have the upper hand in our sexuality? They have way too much control,” said Porsha & Mercedes.
The ultimate goal of Porsha & Mercedes’ brand and music is for women to feel empowered in many aspects of life such as socially, politically and sexually in a society where men are considered to be dominant.
