Known for their high-energy, slam-dunk live performances, Chicago’s incessantly fabulous grime-pop duo Celine Neon has teamed up with Chi-town’s fearless femcee collective, The Rapper Chicks for a fiery new remix of their hit single, “Vacation Time”.
Directed by Danny Bittman, the accompanying visual pays homage to the glory days of mid-90’s hip-hop/R&B.
Comprised of long-time BFFs Emily Nejad & Maggie Kubley, Celine Neon is a colorfully bombastic and theatrical duo that prides itself on being just as exciting offstage as it is onstage. Chicagoians can catch their explosive live show at Subterranean on Saturday, September 19th when they take the stage with ShowYouSuck and Big Dipper.
Equally influenced by the 90s R&B stylings of En Vogue and the grimy lyricism of Peaches, Celine Neon has crafted a contemporary out-of-the-box sound in a class of its own. This past March, the duo released their self-titled debut EP through their own imprint, Kujad Records. Produced by Will Kubley (Maggie’s brother & the bass player for Passafire) and featuring pop gems such as “Getcha Good”, “Depresh”, “Cycle”, and “Vacation Time”, the EP was an instant hit with Chicago tastemakers and indie music bloggers.
Celine Neon’s yet-to-be-titled sophomore EP, the official follow-up to their self-titled debut, is slated for release in November. The lead single “Kitty” will premiere this fall.
